Taming the Multi-Broker Chaos: Unified Portfolio Analysis with Options Strategy Pro

Unified Brokerage View Cover

If you are like most modern self-directed investors, your net worth doesn't live in a single place.

You might have a tax-advantaged Fidelity Roth IRA for long-term retirement savings, a taxable Merrill Edge account to secure premium banking benefits, and a active Schwab or Tradier account for day-to-day option trading.

While splitting capital across multiple custodians makes strategic sense, it creates a massive analytical headache: fragmented portfolio management.

When your assets are scattered, answering a simple question like "What is my true delta exposure to Nvidia?" or "Am I properly hedged against a market correction?" becomes a multi-hour project involving spreadsheet formulas, CSV exports, manual data entry, and average cost calculations. By the time you finish updating your Excel sheet, the market has moved, and your analysis is obsolete.

Today, we are officially solving this problem. We are excited to announce our Multi-Account Portfolio Consolidation Engine in Options Strategy Pro. You can now drag-and-drop multiple statements from different brokers simultaneously and get a unified, real-time, AI-powered analysis of your entire portfolio in under 3 seconds.

The Core Challenge: Fragmented Data and Options Blind Spots

For stock investors, tracking multiple accounts is annoying but manageable. For options traders, it is nearly impossible.

Standard broker portals treat options legs as disconnected individual contracts on a page. If you have a complex strategy running—like an Iron Condor or a Covered Call where the shares are in one account and the short call is in another—neither broker will show you the combined risk profile or return metrics.

Retail traders face three main hurdles when self-consolidating:

  1. Incompatible Formats: A Fidelity CSV statement has different columns, headers, and date formats than a Merrill PDF statement.
  2. Average Cost Math: If you buy 100 shares of Microsoft at $300 in Account A, and 50 shares at $310 in Account B, calculating the combined weighted average cost and cost basis requires manual math.
  3. Disconnected Option Legs: If you hold a long option in your trading account to hedge a short option in your retirement account, no automated tool groups them to show you the defined-risk profile.

Our new engine removes these barriers entirely.

Under the Hood: How the Multi-Account Import Works

We engineered a robust pipeline in the backend of Options Strategy Pro to process, clean, and consolidate disparate broker files seamlessly.

The Ingestion and Analysis Flow:

  1. Upload: You upload statement files (CSV/PDF) from Fidelity, Merrill, and Schwab via the /api/portfolio/upload API.
  2. AI Statement Parsing: A context-aware LLM statement parser extracts positions, symbols, quantities, and cost bases.
  3. Consolidation Engine: The system automatically merges duplicate symbols and recalculates a unified average cost basis.
  4. Strategy Grouper: Disconnected option legs are linked into named spreads, covered calls, and iron condors.
  5. Athena AI & Opportunity Scanner: Athena AI Copilot and the Recommended Opportunities Engine provide unified analytics and actionable recommendations.

1. Multi-Format Statement Parsing

When you upload your files, the backend handles them through a parallelized ingestion pipeline. We use a combination of pattern-matching heuristics and a context-aware LLM parser powered by Google's Gemini models.

  • For CSV statements, the parser dynamically maps column headers (e.g., matching Fidelity's "Current Value" and Merrill's "Market Value" to a unified database schema).
  • For PDF statements, we use pdfplumber to extract text blocks, which are then passed to Gemini to extract asset tickers, quantities, trade types, and cost bases without requiring manual formatting.

2. Intelligent Cost Consolidation

If you hold duplicate assets across different accounts, our consolidation engine (tested thoroughly in test_multiple_uploads.py) automatically merges them. For example, if you upload:

  • Account A (Fidelity IRA): 100 shares of AAPL at an average cost of $150.
  • Account B (Merrill Edge): 50 shares of AAPL at an average cost of $160.

The consolidation engine combines them into a single line item of 150 shares of AAPL with a recalculated weighted average cost of $153.33 and a total cost basis of $23,000.

3. Cross-Account Option Strategy Grouping

Our Strategy Grouper (strategy_grouper.py) scans all options contracts across all uploaded files. It groups individual puts and calls into named strategies like Vertical Spreads, Iron Condors, and Covered Calls based on expirations and strike relationships. It even recognizes when you are running a covered call across accounts (e.g. holding 100 shares of SPY in Fidelity and selling a short call on SPY in Merrill Edge), helping you avoid double-counting risk.

The Benefits: What This Means for You

⚡ 1. Massive Time Savings (Spreadsheets are Dead)

No more copying and pasting values, correcting formatting errors, or writing Excel formulas. You go from raw CSVs/PDF statements to a unified dashboard in under 3 seconds. What used to take hours of tedious administrative work now happens instantly.

🔍 2. True Concentration Risk Awareness

Many investors are over-concentrated without realizing it. You might own index ETFs in your retirement account, individual growth stocks in your active account, and tech mutual funds in a third. By consolidating your holdings, Options Strategy Pro displays your true weighted sector exposure and highlights when you are overly exposed to a single company or sector.

🧠 3. Interactive Copilot: Ask Athena AI About Your Unified Wealth

Because your entire consolidated portfolio is loaded into the system memory, our context-aware assistant Athena AI Copilot is fully aware of your net worth configuration. You can ask queries in plain English:

  • "What is my total delta and theta across all my accounts?"
  • "I have a $25,000 cash balance in my Fidelity account. Based on my current consolidated stock exposure, which cash-secured put should I sell to hedge my tech risk?"
  • "Show me the option legs expiring this week across my Schwab and Merrill accounts."

💸 4. Unified Opportunities Scanning

Instead of evaluating trade ideas for individual accounts in isolation, our Recommended Opportunities Engine analyzes your combined portfolio. It generates 20+ active options recommendations across three strategic tiers:

  • Income Plays: Maximizing covered call or cash-secured put yields on your existing consolidated stock inventory.
  • Market Opportunities: Pointing out premium-selling opportunities on major indices based on current IV Rank.
  • Asymmetric Bets: Identifying high-reward, defined-risk plays (like debit spreads) for capital expansion.
